Preparing for 2026 as a Business Owner

Preparing for 2026 as a Business Owner

2026 is fast approaching, and as business leaders, this is the ideal time to pause, reflect, and plan intentionally for the year ahead. Use this guide to ensure you enter 2026 with focus, clarity, and renewed momentum.

Reflect and Realign

Start by reviewing your progress from 2025 — your wins, challenges, and growth areas. Ask yourself:

  • Have my actions this year aligned with my larger vision and values?
  • Am I investing my time and energy in the right priorities — both professionally and personally?

Strategic Steps for 2026 Planning

1. Set Your 2026 Intentions:
Define what success truly looks like for you in 2026 — both in business and in life.

2. Identify Your Top 10 Goals:
List the goals that matter most.
Attach meaning to each — why does it matter, and what will achieving it unlock for you?

3. Break Goals into Milestones:
Translate big goals into quarterly, monthly, and weekly actions.
Make each milestone specific, measurable, and within your control.

4. Choose a Theme for 2026:
Select a single word or phrase to anchor your mindset and decisions throughout the year (e.g., “Elevation,” “Systems,” “Freedom,” “Impact”).

5. Celebrate 2025 Accomplishments:
List 25 key achievements from this past year — both big and small. Recognize progress before you plan what’s next.

6. Reassess Longstanding “Shoulds” and Unfulfilled Goals:
Identify the goals that have been carried forward for years. Are they still relevant? If not, release them.

7. Eliminate Energy Drains:
List 20 tasks, habits, or situations that drain your energy or productivity. Create a plan to delegate, automate, or delete them.

8. Spot 2026 Opportunities:
Identify your top 10 opportunities for growth — whether that’s entering a new market, deepening partnerships, developing new capabilities, or scaling strategically.

Final Thought

By following this process, you’ll design a 2026 roadmap that’s not only action-oriented but fully aligned with your values, purpose, and desired lifestyle.

Success in 2026 won’t come from doing more — it will come from doing what matters most with clarity and intention.

What will your theme for 2026 be?
Share it below and commit to leading your next year with purpose.

Your Confidence?

How do you keep confidence steady when everything around you is shifting?

Change is inevitable but uncertainty doesn’t have to be.

The best leaders know that clarity, communication, and consistency are what keep people grounded.

Are you leading with enough transparency to maintain confidence through change?https://media.licdn.com/dms/image/v2/D4E10AQGi8AfWKe1T8w/image-shrink_1280/B4EZraOQDYKYAM-/0/1764597760981?e=1765461600&v=beta&t=GgijOGDY5QVvuf88U7eqMK2ee3kXi6A9xCkNiAzJWR8

Where is your awareness??

Change doesn’t begin when you act—it begins when you notice. What have you been overlooking that now demands awareness?

Focus on your Strenghts!
Focus on your Strenghts!

It's a new quarter and so often, entrepreneurs focus on external achievements—revenue, market share, and accolades. But true, sustainable growth starts from within. By cultivating emotional intelligence and self-awareness, you lay the strongest foundation for any business endeavor.

What internal strengths can you amplify today?

Optimized Time Management for Entrepreneurs

Optimized Time Management for Entrepreneurs

The system is built around dividing your time into three distinct categories, each serving a specific purpose. This approach ensures a balance between achieving your professional goals, enhancing personal growth, and maintaining well-being.

Time Categories:

  1. High-Impact Days
These are days fully dedicated to your most important work activities. On these days, focus on tasks that directly move your business forward. Think of this time as when you operate at your peak—solving big challenges, meeting with key people, strategizing, or executing your core expertise.
  2. Recharge Days
These are intentional days off, completely free from work-related activities. Use these to rest, spend time with loved ones, engage in hobbies, or enjoy activities that rejuvenate your mind and body. Disconnecting is key to recharging and coming back stronger.
  3. Preparation Days
These are days where you focus on planning, organizing, and learning to set yourself up for success. Use this time to review strategies, catch up on routine tasks, and build the foundation for successful High-Impact Days.

Steps to Plan Your Year

  1. Set Your Vision for the Year
    • Identify key professional and personal goals.
    • Outline what success looks like at the end of the year.
  2. Determine Your Ideal Weekly Schedule
    • Decide how many High-Impact, Recharge, and Preparation Days you want each week. For example:
      • High-Impact Days: 3–4 days
      • Recharge Days: 1–2 days
      • Preparation Days: 1 day
  3. Block Your Calendar
    • Start by marking Recharge Days on your calendar for the entire year. Prioritize them as they ensure you maintain energy and creativity.
    • Next, schedule High-Impact Days based on major deadlines, projects, and commitments.
    • Lastly, add Preparation Days to set up and align your tasks.
  4. Review Monthly and Quarterly
    • Reflect on your progress at the end of each month or quarter.
    • Adjust your schedule based on what’s working or what needs improvement.

Exercises to Implement the System

  1. Vision Mapping Exercise
    • Write down your top 3 business goals and top 3 personal goals for the year.
    • For each goal, identify what activities are necessary to achieve them.
  2. Calendar Design Exercise
    • Take an empty calendar and map out one quarter using the three types of days. Use distinct colors for each type.
    • Review the balance and ensure Recharge Days are non-negotiable.
  3. Daily Focus Check-In
    • On High-Impact Days, write down 1–3 key outcomes you must achieve that day.
    • On Preparation Days, list out tasks or research needed for upcoming projects.
    • On Recharge Days, plan activities that help you disconnect and recharge.
  4. Weekly Reflection Exercise
    • Spend 10–15 minutes at the end of each week assessing your energy, productivity, and progress.
    • Ask yourself:
      • Did I follow my planned schedule?
      • Did I feel rested and productive?
      • What needs adjustment for next week?

By intentionally managing your time with clear boundaries, you can create a balanced and productive year that supports both your professional ambitions and personal fulfillment.

Change!
Change!

Change only happens when the product of Dissatisfaction meets a Vision and knowing some First Steps overcomes and is greater than our Resistance to  that Change!

This highlights a key framework for understanding how meaningful change occurs, particularly when a business is attempting to grow past a "ceiling of complexity." A ceiling of complexity refers to the point where the systems, processes, or strategies that previously worked for a business no longer suffice to sustain growth or efficiency, often leading to stagnation or chaos.

Breaking this idea into its components:

1. Dissatisfaction (D)

  • What it means: Dissatisfaction is the recognition that the current state is inadequate or problematic. For a business, this might manifest as frustration with bottlenecks, inefficiencies, declining revenue, or missed opportunities.
  • Why it's essential for change: Without dissatisfaction, there's no motivation to change. Businesses often resist change because it disrupts the status quo, but when dissatisfaction grows—whether through pain points like lost market share or internal inefficiencies—it creates a sense of urgency.
  • Relevance to growth past complexity: Reaching a ceiling of complexity often forces dissatisfaction to surface because the old ways of working no longer scale effectively. For example, a company growing from a startup to a mid-sized business might find that informal communication no longer works, requiring more formal structures.

2. Vision (V)

  • What it means: Vision is a clear and compelling picture of what the future could look like if the change is successfully implemented. It acts as a guiding star that inspires and aligns efforts toward a common goal.
  • Why it's essential for change: Even if dissatisfaction is present, without a vision, change efforts lack direction and energy. People need to see not just what is wrong but also what is possible. For instance, a company envisioning streamlined operations, happier customers, and higher profits is more likely to galvanize its team to pursue new strategies.
  • Relevance to growth past complexity: Vision helps a business redefine its purpose and reimagine its systems to move beyond the barriers imposed by its current complexity. This might include adopting new technologies, entering new markets, or restructuring teams.

3. First Steps (FS)

  • What it means: First steps are the initial, tangible actions that signal progress toward the vision. These are practical and manageable tasks that help reduce the overwhelming nature of large-scale change.
  • Why it's essential for change: Knowing the first steps makes the change feel attainable. Without clear actions to take, the process of change can feel paralyzing. For example, if a business decides to overhaul its customer service, a first step might be conducting a needs assessment or piloting a new software system.
  • Relevance to growth past complexity: Complexity can feel like an insurmountable problem, but identifying and taking first steps (like training employees on new tools or hiring a consultant) builds momentum. These early actions demonstrate commitment and make progress visible.

4. Resistance to Change (R)

  • What it means: Resistance encompasses the fear, inertia, or skepticism that hinders change. This could be due to comfort with the status quo, lack of understanding, or fear of failure.
  • Why it's essential to address: Change initiatives fail when resistance outweighs the combined forces of dissatisfaction, vision, and first steps. Businesses must actively manage resistance by addressing concerns, providing support, and building buy-in.
  • Relevance to growth past complexity: In complex systems, resistance often comes from fear of disrupting what’s already working, even if it’s imperfect. Leaders must recognize and mitigate resistance by communicating benefits, involving stakeholders, and celebrating small wins.

The Formula for Change:

Change (C)=(D×V×FS)>R\text{Change (C)} = (\text{D} \times \text{V} \times \text{FS}) > \text{R}Change (C)=(D×V×FS)>R

  • Interpretation: Change occurs when dissatisfaction (D), vision (V), and first steps (FS) combine in such a way that their product exceeds the resistance (R). Each element is necessary; if any one is weak or missing, the overall effort will likely fail.

Application in Business Growth:

When a business hits a ceiling of complexity, this framework helps leaders strategize how to move forward:

  1. Identify Dissatisfaction: Pinpoint areas where complexity is limiting growth (e.g., slow decision-making, high employee turnover).
  2. Clarify Vision: Paint a clear and inspiring picture of what success looks like beyond the complexity ceiling (e.g., more streamlined processes, scalability, or innovation).
  3. Define First Steps: Break down the larger change into actionable, manageable steps that make the vision seem achievable.
  4. Overcome Resistance: Actively address fears and objections by communicating benefits, offering support, and involving key stakeholders.

By systematically applying this formula, businesses can navigate complexity and unlock new opportunities for growth.  Join our paid community to get access to proven coaching that will blow you past your ceiling of complexity and make you CHANGE!

    • Select a word or phrase to encapsulate your focus for the year (e.g., “Growth,” “Balance,” “Impact”).
