What you'll learn

If you or a friend has a "problem with alcohol" this guide will help you to find out if it is alcoholism or if it is problem drinking. The two issues have a few similarities but have more differences than most realize. As the saying goes "it's hard to work on the problem if you don't know what the problem is." By helping the individual identify what the real issue is, then they are free to decide what remedy to use. In most cases, especially if the consumption of alcohol is frequent, it may be needed to enter yourself into a local detox center to safely withdraw from alcohol and any other drugs. Then you can consider your options.

Requirements

Your interest at this point could be for a friend or perhaps yourself. You could be feeling dread at having to consider if quitting drinking will be necessary. Perhaps, but look at it this way. Are you putting everything else aside to favor your drinking? Your job, your family, children, maybe even your livelyhood? How about your freedom if you get caught drinking and driving? No one needs to know that you're looking into the cause of your drinking. Especially if you are worrried if you are an alcoholic. Keep it to yourself for now and then once you have more information you can make a better choice for yourself. Just decide what is truly important in your life, your drinking, or what you stand to lose if you don't stop.
