This section is an introduction to the course, which is Part Two of the Essay Apprentice Writing System. While this is Part Two of the Essay Apprentice Writing System, you do not need to take Part One to complete this course.
Part One: Sentence Types and Fragments includes handouts and writing exercises that teach you to identify the four types of sentences, learn basic sentence structure, and work with fragments, subjects, and predicates.
Part Two: Clauses, Commas, and Conjunctions includes handouts and writing exercises that teach you to form complete sentences, work with main and subordinate clauses, and punctuate sentences using commas and coordinating conjunctions.
Part Three: Noun, Adjective, and Adverb Clauses includes handouts and writing exercises that have you learn the differences between noun, adjective, and adverb clauses, and practice writing and identifying each.
Part Four: Appositives, Gerunds, and Punctuation includes handouts and writing exercises that have you learn and work with modifiers, including appositives, gerunds, and present participles, and punctuating sentences with modifiers.
Part Five: Simple, Compound, and Complex Sentences includes handouts and writing exercises that have you learn and work extensively with the different sentence types, including simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex.
The following is an optional course exam for those who want to test their skills at the end of this course.
