Defining race and ethnicity with a focus on America with implications for worldwide social stratification systems. Recognizing that America is a melting pot of multi-race, multi-ethnic and multi-cultural groups, establishing fundamental knowledge of social placement systems here will introduce race relations basics. What are the major groups in America and their relationships opportunities for success, generally called privileges? How are those privileges measured and why are they reinforced? We find meaningful applications to understand race in America.
