Her own story is one of profound transformation. She survived 15 years of domestic violence, sexual assault, and two near-death strangulation experiences. At her lowest, she was forced to make the unthinkable choice—to leave everything behind, including her two sons, in order to survive.

Years later, after rebuilding from scratch in a new country and language, one of her sons returned to her as an adult—a full-circle moment of healing and reconnection. Rather than becoming bitter, Gemma chose love, healing, and purpose.
