What you'll learn

  • To empower you as a parent in the first 12 months of your baby's life, equipping you with the knowledge and tools to support their development.
  • Shed light on the blind spots in our parenting that can inadvertently affect our baby's development, and learn how to shift these behaviors for a significant impact.
  • Helping you and baby LOVE floor time and tummy time play.
  • Learn the #1 self-soothing, self-regulating tool a baby has so that it's not always YOU who calms them down.
  • The pitfalls of "baby containers" and how they block development during critical periods.
  • To be a student of your baby, seeing and noticing so many miracles that most parents don't recognize.
  • The value of letting babies be masters of their domain rather than us trying to get them to the next milestone.
  • Permission to let your baby lead...you don't need to know it all, and you are the perfect parent for your baby... NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! You got this, and I got you!

Content

Welcome and Introduction, including the history of tummy time as the response to the epidemic of delayed motor milestones that began in 1994.

How we hold and move our babies profoundly affects what they feel and experience. When we meet them where they are and give them the opportunity to initiate the next step, magic happens, skills are built, and they begin to master their domain.

Parents of toddlers and preschoolers often talk about the difficulty of transitions. We could be inadvertently setting the stage for that challenge in infancy. It's easy to pick up and place a baby because they are so tiny, but when we make the extra effort to work in partnership with them to move, we create magical connections AND give babies practice moving as they will when they have the skill.

What are we expecting at what age and how to support adding foundational movements, positions, postures, and sensory experiences that are missing.

Requirements

  • A desire to know your baby deeply and have the knowledge and skills to impact their development in a loving, nurturing way.
  • Be excited about learning new ways to hold, handle, and play with your baby.
  • Be an expecting parent/family, a parent/grandparent/caregiver of a baby birth to eight months, or a professional working with babies and their families.
  • Provide a safe, firm, flat, clean surface for your baby to be on the floor (e.g., a baby mat, yoga mat, carpet, or secured baby blanket). If you do not have that floor space, be ready to have your baby in your arms and lap.
