Welcome to G3: Growth, Guidance & Gratitude — Understanding Ego on the Path to Self. This course is a space to slow down, explore the patterns that shape your choices, and build a more compassionate relationship with yourself. You do not need to have everything figured out before you begin—simply arrive with curiosity and a willingness to notice what is true for you.
Two words that get used as if they mean the same thing are actually pointing at very different things — that's where this lesson begins. Your ego is simply your sense of self, the part of you that navigates reality, makes decisions, and balances instinct with values; being egotistical is something else entirely, an inflated sense of self-importance often built on comparison and image protection. Rather than treating ego as something to judge or eliminate, you'll practice noticing when it's helping you function and when it's tipping into egotistical territory.
In this lesson, you’ll explore the comfort-seeking ego—the part of you that looks for safety in what is familiar and may resist change, uncertainty, or discomfort. You’ll learn to recognize the rationalizations that can keep you stuck and begin using discomfort as useful information on your path of growth.
In this lesson, you’ll explore the super ego—the part of the mind shaped by early expectations, rules, and ideas about who you are supposed to be. You’ll learn to notice internalized “shoulds,” guilt, and shame with greater compassion so you can begin making choices that feel more aligned with your authentic self.
This lesson brings the ideas of ego, comfort, and internalized expectations into your real life. Through guided reflection, you’ll identify where ego may be showing up, how it may be keeping you stuck, and what discomfort could be inviting you toward your next stage of growth.
Bringing the Ego section's teachings into your actual, everyday life is the point of this application. You'll reflect on where ego is showing up for you right now, what it may be protecting or keeping you stuck in, and what small, authentic step could support your growth — then commit to one.
